Confessions of a Junk Food Junkie - 8 Tricks to Kick the Habit

True Story - I have felt over weight my entire life. Like really over weight. Growing up, I can't remember a specific instance that I felt really comfortable in my own skin. I'd love to tell you that those days are far behind me after my 40 pound weight loss but sadly that is not the case. The struggle is real.

My name is Marie and I'm a girl whose best friend used to be a tube of Chips Ahoy cookies and a super sized glass of milk. It wasn't easy, it's a progress in the works, some days I still fail.

But if I can do it, so can you. Here is a great place to start:

1. Clean the junk food out of your home. - Throw it away or give it to a neighbor but get it out of the house.

2. Eat 80% clean - It is ok to enjoy the sweeter side of life just be conscious of it.

3. Make it a habit - one day at a time. Each time you eat a healthy meal you are one step closer to your goal. Keep moving forward.

4. Plan Ahead - Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. Get a plan, right it down and follow through.

5. Carry healthy foods with you. - Take a piece of fruit, a power bar, a Shakeology packet with you

5. Explore and discover new healthy foods. Turns out there are so many great foods out there that I never would have tried. One of my new favs is hummus.

6. Get support. Find a friend. You are NOT in this alone.
7. Stay positive. What you think matters. Positive thoughts generate positive feelings and attract positive life experiences.

8. Cut the CRAP - If you want the results you have to put in the work. Stop with the excuses and the blaming. You control you. PERIOD.

You might be one of those lucky souls who just decided to walk away from the candy counter and never looked back. Good for you. I’m not one of those people. Eating right is much easier than it was 5 years ago, but it’s still a process. That said, the rewards are innumerable, so why don’t you set down the pudding pop, grab a peach, and join me?

March 12th 2015 -
I am fearful to write not because I fear that no one will read it, but for fear that someone might.
Many times I have proclaimed to friends, family, and clients..... "DO IT!!!" Whatever it is, if it is good do it. My mind spirals out of control on to thoughts as to so many times that I have given strong sound advice and then wondered Why won't they listen. If they would only listen to me they would succeed. After all I am educated, experienced, creative, type A, and some what successful.
The problem was is that I wasn't taking my OWN advice. I wasn't sharing my stories. I was telling. Not doing.
I Know this. I know this. I know this. but I do not stop. I sit here on this vicious procrastination merry go round, I blame others and say if they would only.....
Why don't I?
It's not the big things. They aren't hard things to do. Am I frozen in fear? Fear of what?
What am I so afraid of?
Do I care what what others think of me? Do I think I won't fail? Is there a chance that I could succeed?

I guess for now it is a process that I will turn to my faith and pray to God to help become unfrozen.

Cauliflower Curry Ultimate Reset

Curry Cauliflower  Roasted

1 tbls Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 to 1 teaspoon Curry Powder
1/2 Head of cauliflower stems removed and trimmed into florets
1/4  tsp Himalayan Salt (or kosher – everyone please stop using table salt- seriously)

Preheat oven to 400 Degrees. Heat oil in medium low heat add curry; cook, stirring constantly or 15 to 30 seconds until fragrant but don’t burn it. (I am lazy – I skipped the whole heating of the curry step)  I drizzled the evoo over the cauliflower and sprinkled with curry tossed it in a glass casserole dish. Sprinkled with salt and baked for 25 minutes. You can give it stir gently a couple of times.
Man I might have to make this again. It was really tasty!

Day 1 Ultimate Reset

Day 1.
B. Toast, kale & eggs.
L. Salad & miso soup
S. 1/2 apple & walnuts
D. Salmon, asparagus & boiled red potatoes.

I thought it was going to be a little easier.  The water is super salty to me, but, I think I am starting to get used to it.
The alkaline aka wheat shot tasted like, well, grass.  Foamy grass
Dinner was excellent.  Nomnom
No irregular bowel movements as of yet.
Before dinner I took something called soothe, not sure what that means but we will see.
Although day one was a little rough I can't wait to see my results.
Mind, body & soul.
